Meet Stormi: The Girl Who’s Learning to Trust Again

Stormi—with an i—is a 3-year-old Shih Tzu who came to Tzus and Mews after being listed on Craigslist. When we first saw her photo, her coat was matted, her paws were brown, and her eyes told the story of a girl who’d been through too much for her size. She arrived covered in fleas, confused, and carrying the weight of abandonment.

Stormi had lived the life of a breeder dog, expected to be perfect, to perform, to meet expectations she never asked for. Her little body showed the toll — from unhealthy food to a gut that needed deep healing. But through holistic care, fresh nutrition, and patience, she began to transform. The matted hair became silky. The fear in her eyes softened. The weight she lost became lean, strong muscle.
Now, Stormi is thriving. She’s athletic and sweet, still learning to play and trust every day. She has a sensitive soul — especially around men — but she’s curious, brave, and open to healing. Stormi doesn’t need a man in her home to feel secure, but gentle, patient male energy around the family would be healing for her. If there is a man in the home, he should be kind, calm, and willing to let trust unfold slowly. What matters most is that Stormi feels seen, safe, and unpressured as she continues learning what love truly feels like.
She doesn’t need perfection; she needs presence.
She doesn’t need pressure; she needs peace.
When you trust her enough to simply be, Stormi will show you all the beauty she’s been holding inside — soft kisses, quiet devotion, and a heart that wants to belong.
